Aerospace
We supply products for many different applications within the Aerospace, Military and Defense industries. We are AS9100 certified and comply with DFARS (Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement) requirements. Common stainless steel grades used in aerospace applications include 302, 304, 304L, 305, 310, 316, 316L 317, 321, 347 416, 17-7 ph and 17-4 ph. Nickel-based alloys include 400, 600, and X750 and red metal alloys include brass 260 & 270, copper, and cadmium copper.
Acoustic Wire Mesh / Sound Attenuation
We weave our Acoustic mesh (or acoustic cloth) to achieve precise sound attenuation specifications defined by a specific Rayl value. We provide acoustic mesh to most major international aircraft engine manufacturers and aftermarket users, meeting their performance requirements for nacelles and thrust reversers.
We supply a wide variety of OEM specifications, including GE B50 TF200, Goodrich RMS 059 and PWA 1170. If you are not sure of the specifications of wire mesh for your application, we can work with you to manufacture to the spec you need.
Wire
We supply wire for the following applications in air and space:
- Spring wire used in landing gear, engine controls and interiors components such as seats and overhead luggage compartments.
- Safety lock wire used to secure fasteners to prevent unintended loosening or falling out due to vibration.
- Bar stock machined for precision small parts in hydraulic systems, engines, and other flight control systems as well as fasteners that cannot be cold headed. Other uses include hinge pins and antennas.
- Tie wire used in investment casting molds for large and complex shapes.
Visit our wire page for more information on the different types of wire and specifications we meet.
Electromagnetic Shielding
Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) and Radio Frequency Interference (RFI) shielding reduces electronic malfunction susceptibility by blocking unwanted external electromagnetic waves or preventing internal electromagnetic waves from emitting and interfering other circuits or devices.
Our EMI/RFI Shielding meshes are available in blackened copper, as well as silver plated and blackened stainless steel. It differs from regular square mesh as it has a small wire diameter with an extremely high open area producing a lightweight mesh that allows maximum transparency while performing its critical function.
The wire mesh is woven and plated for high levels of electric conductivity, while remaining uniform and consistent to limit impacting the optics. The blackened copper wire mesh, which is typically .0022” in wire diameter, is available in 100 openings per inch. The plated, blackened stainless steel wire mesh, which is typically .0012” in wire diameter, is available in 50, 80, and 100 openings per inch.
Lightning Strike Mesh
Lightning strike protection (LSP) is required to effectively channel electrical currents induced by lightning. The mesh is embedded in the composite aircraft material, creating an effective Faraday cage. LSP mesh is also used in composite helicopter blades and other composite material where this type of threat exists (for example wind turbines).
Common specifications we supply are ABS 5327 (50 gr, 80 gr. 370 gr, 790 gr), ASNA 4239, ABS 5083 and SS 9615, however we can work with you to manufacture the specification you need.
FOD screens for helicopters and satellites
Foreign Object Debris (FOD) screens protect aircraft or systems from damage. Mesh is used to form a barrier to keep solid objects out while letting air pass through or to allow access when removed. We can work with you to form and build the exact screen specification you need.
Filters
There are many applications for liquid and air filters in an aircraft, from air intake protection to inline filters for brake fluid, hydraulic oil and fuel filters. We can work with you to provide the solution and manufacture the filter parts or complete assemblies delivering direct to your production line.
